Rockstar Duo Feeds Montana Firefighters: Bearded Legends Unite
Montana's firefighting efforts in the summer can turn into a full-blown operation very quickly. I can recall visiting a few "fire camps" in the past. In fact, I once volunteered to help gather groceries for a giant fire camp near Florence a few years ago. The amount of skill and effort to feed hundreds of hardworking people is mind-blowing. Feeding hungry firefighters is one of the core tasks that can lead to victory against a raging inferno.
Just recently, the town of Wise River, MT was visited by the legendary Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top. Along with his friend and fellow rockstar, Tim Montana, Billy decided to go into business with Tim and purchase the Wise River Club. Since Billy and Tim took over, the bar has been thriving. With tons of live music to enjoy and a great menu.
Wildfires have sparked in the Wise River area. Making it a community effort to extinguish them. Tim and Billy have stepped up and decided to offer up some hot chow to hungry firefighters. With the help of chefs from all across the country who flew to Montana to cook.
According to KXLF
"We come to cook and feed the machine that puts out the fire," says Billy Terrell, the owner and pit master with the Beached Pig out of Nashville, Tennesse.
Terrell says he hopped on a plane with four other cooks when he got a call for help from Tim Montana, the owner of the Wise River Club. The team is making about 150 meals for breakfast, lunch, and dinner for the wildland firefighters.
Just like Napolean always believed. "An Army Marches on Its Stomach."
Feeding hungry firefighters is a key component to winning the fight. Thank you to Tim Montana for showing everyone how Montanans step up when it comes to community and generosity.
