Search Underway for Suspect Near Haugen and Lookout Pass
UPDATE 1/28/22 10:50am. According to the Snohomish County Sheriff's Office, the suspect was taken into custody in Haugan, MT.
Early this morning, Friday, January 28, officials were warning Montana and Idaho travelers not to pick up any hitchhikers near Lookout Pass or the surrounding areas of I-90. We have now learned that the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office of Idaho is searching for a burglary suspect.
Montana's Mineral County Sheriff's office confirmed in a Facebook post that officials are searching for Jesse Spitzer who is wanted for first-degree burglary, first-degree assault, and possession of a stolen vehicle, in addition to multiple crime sprees. Spitzer was sentenced for shooting at a deputy sheriff in Nevada in 2011.
Spitzer is considered armed and dangerous and the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office has indicated that he could be using makeup to cover his face tattoos. Again, you are advised not to pick up any hitchhikers in the area of Lookout Pass and the $50,000 Silver Dollar Bar in Haugen. The Sheriff's Office also asked that "Anyone with information on Spitzer's whereabouts is asked to call 911 or email Marcus.Dill@snoco.org."
