‘Smack Cam’ May Be the Cruelest Fad to Rock the Internet

Oh, Internet -- you continue to host wonderful ideas for the betterment of all humankind.

And then there's this.

A new trend on Vine called "Smack Cam" proves that people love to A) scare the bejesus out of other people and B) scare them with physical violence. Basically, Smack Cam is when someone surprises someone else by smacking them. Lovely, right?

The fad has it detractors, since it relies on helpless victims and often features teenage boys pulling the prank on girls.
