Staind’s Aaron Lewis Ends Concert Early After Crowd Refuses to Be Quiet
Staind singer Aaron Lewis' solo acoustic show in Pharr, Texas ended early on Saturday night (Feb. 2). After attempting a special moment in total silence, Lewis bid the crowd goodnight when the crowd wouldn't keep quiet.
"I need five minutes, that's it, that's it. Just five minutes, but I need you to be quieter than you've been all night or else you're not gonna hear it," said Lewis to the audience in the video clip below. He was attempting to play a song with no microphone, instead opting to sing directly to the crowd.
"I'm gonna try to do something different and special but you're not gonna hear it if you're not quiet," he continued. "No you don't understand, like fucking church [level] quiet. I'm only gonna wait for so long and then I'm just gonna say goodnight," Lewis added with agitation in his voice.
Still imploring the Texas crowd to be quiet, he went on, "I don't understand what you're not getting. I know I have a microphone so you can hear me. You're not gonna hear the song unless it's this quiet. You get it?" Presumably, someone in the crowd vocalized something to draw his attention, which prompted the response, "I'm sorry, I don't know how to speak Spanish — I'm American."
He then said farewell to the crowd and left the stage without performing the song.
Lewis has a number of dates remaining on his current U.S. tour, which can be seen below. He'll also be releasing his third country solo record, State I'm In, which will arrive in April.
