The "Spring Cleaning Bug" has already struck my household. I spent most of this past weekend sorting and organizing my 5 year old's toys. The entire time, I was contemplating either holding a garage sale, or simply donating the unwanted toys. But, a piece of me kept saying "ugh, organizing a garage sale is too much work. I wish there was an easier way." Well, it turns out there is.

It's time again to clear out all those unwanted items you just can't throw in the trash and join vendors at UM on Saturday, May 5th for "The World's Largest Garage Sale."

The event will be held - rain or shine (even snow!) - on the lower two levels of the University's covered parking garage from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Setup for vendors will begin at 7:30 a.m. The parking garage is just off Campus Drive, next to the Mansfield Library.

The sale offers an opportunity to recycle furniture, house wares, clothes - anything that might have value to community residents or to students who are trying to furnish new apartments.

For $25, vendors will get two parking spaces, each 9 feet by 18 feet. Additional spaces are available for $10 each.

Please make checks payable to University of Montana.

The semi-annual garage sale is a fundraiser for the UM Advocates, a campus service organization. The organization's more than 50 members provide volunteer labor for many campus functions, including Homecoming and new-student orientation.

Previous sales, which are held every Spring and Fall, have attracted almost 100 sellers and thousands of shoppers. Don't miss this chance to turn unwanted items into cash.
