UM is Two-Time National Champ in Ancient Irish Sport
We are all aware of our Montana Grizzlies' two NCAA national football titles. But were you aware of the two national titles we hold in a 3,000-year-old game?
The 2017 UM Hurling season is underway in Missoula. We have two separate teams, UM Griz and the Missoula Meaghers. Each team celebrated St. Patrick's Day this past weekend, with a scrimmage at Washington Grizzly Stadium.
According to the UM Hurling Facebook page:
After our exciting season opener at the historic WGS, we are delighted to announce that we will be back there again during a busy April.. April 15th will see our first ever (Hopefully Annual) 7 a side competition right here in Missoula (Loyola) and of course, April 22nd will be the 4th Annual McEneaney Cup (WGS) These days are not to be missed by any fan of hurling.. April promises to be a huge month for hurling in Missoula with a vast range of hurlers coming from near, far and even the Old Country (Ireland).
So, mark it down on your calendar to witness our very own Griz dominate a 3,000 year old sport on April 15th and April 22nd at Washington Grizzly Stadium.
The Montana Kaimin did an excellent job covering the two team's first scrimmage this past Saturday at WA-Griz stadium.
