Voivod put out the Post Society EP back in February earlier this year and the five song offering is one of the strongest releases of their adventurous career. They're capping off the year with a music video for the title track, which can be viewed above.

The song opens up with the rumbling bass heft of Motorhead, but quickly returns to signature Voivod with dissonant chords further shaping their futurist, sci-fi approach to thrash. Surging with energy, "Post Society" has a certain push and pull between more fluid guitar licks and the staccato nature of other moments that take the listener on an enthralling journey.

The video was shot by Dirk Behlau of Beastwood Film Production during Voivod's appearance at the Leafmeal Festival in Germany. Capturing the band's frenetic live performance, the footage also highlights the more lighthearted backstage moments, showing the members goofing around and sharing a few laughs.

While on tour earlier this year, Voivod were joined onstage by former bassist Jason Newsted. He hopped onstage with the group in California, tearing through the band's title track off their 1984 War and Pain debut.

Drummer Michael 'Away' Langevin has also offered some insight as to what fans can expect from the Canadian prog / thrash icons in the near future, stating, "We wrote some songs on the road, demoed them between tours and now we will spend the winter writing some more, just to make sure there will be a brand new Voivod album in 2017. Thanks for coming to the shows, enjoy the video, which is very representative of the good time we have onstage and see you next year!"
