Black Friday is almost here, which means a ton of people are going to spend the night in the cold for $10 off on that toaster. But if you live in Montana, you know standing under parking-lot lights at 6 a.m. on a November Saturday feels like punishment. Fortunately, Walmart just unveiled a fresh crop of AI-powered tools that could put an end to my dumb impulse buys followed by buyer's remorse.

Meet Walmart’s New Robot Helper

They are calling it Sparky, and it is a kind of AI assistant for Walmart. You can ask it to search for the best deals, put together shopping lists, and even plan your holiday party. Picture your friend who’s obsessed with having all the stuff in his or her life organized, except not as judgmental.

So even as the rest of the country roots around in bins of $5 blenders, Montanans can relax at home in flannel pants while Sparky does the hard work. The app will even allow for 3D views of decorations and gifts, which is especially handy if you’re two hours from the nearest Walmart.

These 5 Tools are Lazy (But Smart) Shoppers!

Walmart also threw in a few new tricks with its app, such as:

  • Black Friday rollbacks and clearance tracker that will help you discover the local, in-store savings near you.
  • Better Search & Navigation so you know just where stuff is in the store.
  • List Maker that shows you what aisle the gifts are on.
  • AI Party Planner that creates a shopping list for you.
  • 3D and Augmented Reality Shopping that allows you to “shop the background” in online photos.

And if that wasn’t enough, they added audio summaries for more than a thousand products. Translation: you can shop on your way to work, or while scraping the ice off your windshield.

Why It Matters in Montana

Out here, we’ve got long drives, bad roads, and lots of people who’d rather stay home when it’s five below. Walmart’s update to the A.I. is kind of the ideal solution. It’s the best possible for holiday shopping without having to brave crowds or the elements.

So why not let Sparky do the deal hunting this season? You can still get the deals without getting up from the couch or getting trampled by crowds.
