WATCH 35 Years of Best Plays With Brawl of the Wild Highlights
It may not seem that long ago, but it has been 21 years since the Griz won the National Championship. Not to mention it has been 27 years since the Griz donned the copper and gold jerseys after winning the National Championship in 1995.
As Montanans, the Brawl of the Wild game has been the biggest game of the college football season. Regardless of how many wins each teamed racked up over the course of the season, there has always been one game that the teams have to win. Barring playing the National Championship Game, the annual meeting of Griz and Bobcats is the ONLY game that matters. And it can be seen when the players from each team play hard. Almost like it is the final game they will ever get to play.
Over the course of the last 120 meetings, the Montana Grizzlies continue to lead overall, winning 74 of the 120 games played. But, the Bobcats are looking to maintain their winning streak for the upcoming 121st Brawl of the Wild.
Since the dawn of the Big Sky Conference in 1963, Montana State was off to a strong start with nearly a 17-6 win/loss ratio over the Griz. Not to mention two National Championships. But, starting in 1986, the Montana Grizzlies began a winning streak that wouldn't be broken for 16 years. It is almost like the biggest game of tug-o-war you will ever witness.
Looking back on just the last 36 years of this Montana tradition, you can truly see just how hard each team wants to bring home that "Great Divide Trophy."
Check out the awesome highlights from Montana Sports, of each Griz/Cat game since 1986.
