Watch Footage of Insane Montana Griz Game Versus Delaware in 1993
The Griz are gearing up for another game day. The 2023 Big Sky Conference champs are hosting an opponent that we haven't seen in quite some time. In fact, the last time these two teams met, Bill "Bubba" Clinton was in his first year as President of the USA.
30 years ago, the Delaware Blue Hens traveled to a frigid Montana town to battle the soon-to-be National Champion Montana Grizzlies.
According to MTN Sports
The Grizzlies were led by sophomore quarterback Dave Dickenson who completed 37 of 44 passes for 409 yards and four touchdowns, while he also ran for another score.
This game was a WILD one. Especially the last 3 minutes of the game. First, it was a cold day in Missoula. Temperatures were a balmy 8 degrees. The Griz still sporting their copper and gold colors. The Griz GOAT Dave Dickenson was cranking out some great plays. But, Delaware kept answering. It all boiled down to the last few minutes of the game.
The 2 teams slugged it out, with back-to-back touchdowns. Only to have the game come down to a missed extra point field goal kick (PAT)
According to MTN Sports
The teams combined for 1,091 yards of total offense in the game. Delaware alone rushed for 474 yards and completed just five passes total on the day. The two programs also totaled eight turnovers.
The Delaware Blue Hens are a big deal in the Northeast. They even recently announced that their program will be stepping up from FCS to FBS in the near future.
The #2 ranked Griz are READY to take on the Blue Hens this Saturday for a rematch 30 years in the making.
