The dog days of summer are here and what do you think is the hottest temperature that has ever been recorded in the state?

We know it can get hot but I know I have never seen or felt it this hot in Montana before. Hottest temperature ever recorded according to coolweather.net: 117 F, Medicine Lake, northeast Montana on January 14 1954. Wow that is hot! At that point being outside is hard on the body especially if not use to it and in 1954 I imagine air-conditioners weren't as common or worked as good.

It does go on to say that the east side gets hotter during the summer. Also it mentions the place with the longest consistent number of days in the 90's was set in July - September 1922 with 38 days at Crow Agency, Montana.

I also noticed when looking up Medicine Lake they have a place to eat called "Honker Pit". Thought that was a funny name...
