Where to Get Flathead Cherries and Fresh Dixon Melons in Missoula
Imagine my delight when we walked into Orange Street Food Farm (recently voted #1 for "Nightlife" in the Missoula's Choice Awards) and saw a mountain of perfect, shiny Flathead Cherries. I think the checkers heard an audible gasp of excitement as I quickly grabbed a bag and started filling it to the brim. We paid just $1.39 a pound, which, if you ask me, is an insane steal for such deliciousness, and our helpful checker said that they had just gone down from $1.99 per pound as they had plenty in stock. So get 'em while you can before I back my truck up to their front door and snatch them all! (And yes, the "Nightlife" category is typically reserved for bars, but OSFF is just THAT fun.)
So I'm relaxing on my front porch spitting cherry pits on to the lawn and decide to check out what's crackin' at Farmer's Market this weekend. Guess what - it's Dixon Melons time! I'd get there early though, they go quickly. The Dixon Melons truck will be at the east end of the market, just north of Clark Fork Organics, from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, August 8th. Look for their green aprons and please wear a mask and mind your social distancing while in line.
Don't forget, there's also a Tuesday evening Farmer's Market each week from 5 to 7 p.m. on North Higgins at the XXXX's. Eat fresh & organic while supporting our local farmers and community suppliers!
