Me saying that I love the wind is something I have never uttered before. I normally detest the wind. It is notorious for ruining perfectly good hair days. It also makes me squint (which is very unattractive) and it makes running outside very difficult.

However, I am glad we have had some wind this year. I’m sure you can guess why. It has done a fantastic job of blowing all the smoke out of the Missoula area. I don’t think I’ve ever been so glad to have the wind whipping my hair in to a freshly constructed rats nest as I have this past month.

I can only hope that this wind sticks around for a while, at least until the rain or snow falls. It seems that no matter what the season is, we are always longing for the next one to start. I know I am terrible about this. All summer I dream of snow and sipping hot chocolate or sledding. All winter I dream of sunny days, laying on the beach and swimming to cool off.

One thing I never long for, no matter the season, is wind. This year is definetly a first for me. Longing for wind is out of the ordinary. I suppose for those who grew up on the Highline, this is probably something they dream of, or it is the reason they moved.

No matter how you usually feel about the wind, you have to agree that the wind we have had recently has been a life saver.
