Got an some extra dough burning a hole in your pocket? Well, we’ve just found your next extravagant purchase. It’s a beautiful 1972 Dodge Sportsman Royal Van with an ice cream sandwich paint job, busted hood and four flat tires! Oh yeah, it also just happens to have been used by the Melvins during their early years and features art drawn onto the van by Kurt Cobain.

This unique and one-of-a-kind piece of rock history is the famous ‘MELVAN’ documented in various Nirvana biographies and documentaries. The art on the outside of the van was crafted by Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain using sharpie markers shoplifted from the Thriftway grocery store where Melvins frontman Buzz Osborne used to work.

Cobain also drove the van to local shows and the Melvins themselves used the ‘MELVAN’ for at least one U.S. tour.

The van comes with two former registrations. One is signed by former Melvins bassist Matt Lukin and the other signed by King Buzzo himself. Also, in a strange coincidence, the license tabs for the van expired in April of 1994, the same month Cobain took his own life.

As of this posting, the highest bid for the van is $22,000. Head on over to eBay to check out the van for yourself, and if you have the cash, you could drive away with a piece of music history.
