A7X Rule At The Golden Gods Awards (Again), STP Releasing DVD — Angel’s Rock Report

The fourth edition of the Revolver Golden Gods Awards last night at L.A.'s Club Nokia was highlighted by a number of performances featuring special guests:

  • Johnny Depp joined Marilyn Manson on guitar for half of their four song set, and Taylor Momsen of The Pretty Reckless sang with Manson on another number.
  • Alice Cooper closed Slash's set by singing "School's Out" with the band.

Marilyn Manson Performs With Johnny Depp at 2012 Revolver Golden Gods

Before Marilyn Manson‘s performance, Golden Gods host Chris Jericho introduced Damien Echols, who was recently released from prison after 18 years. Echols is one of the West Memphis Three, a trio of young men who were convicted of murder without solid evidence to back it up. After much support from artists such as Manson and new discoveries such as upgraded DNA testing, which did not place any of the West Memphis Three at the scene of the crime, the three were released last year.

Motley Crue’s Nikki Sixx Wins Best Bassist at 2012 Revolver Golden Gods

It was fitting that three members of Slipknot hit the stage to present an honor that’s new to the Revolver Golden Gods this year, and an equally fitting name for it — the Paul Gray Best Bassist Award. Gray was, after all, Slipknot’s bassist until his tragic death in May 2010 from a drug overdose, and a very skilled one at that. Bass players are often the unsung hero of the band, but nobody ever overlooked Gray — during his life or after his passing.
