Comedy Show Fundraiser for Local Food banks Coming to Missoula
In 2017 local stand-up comedians started a tradition of having a show at The Roxy Theater each year to raise money and collect non-perishable food items for local food banks. I guess because the only thing better than laughter is laughter for a good cause. This Wednesday, November 23rd at 8pm in The Roxy Theater, the stand-up comedy show "Thanksgoofing" returns. Tickets are on sale now for $9, and on the day of the event tickets are $9 or $5 with a non-perishable food item.
You might think no one would show up to an event the night before Thanksgiving, but that's definitely not the case. Th show is known to have a great crowd, maybe because there's typically not much else to do that night. I attended once and the audience was full and lively, and of course the comedians were hilarious.
If you haven't seen a local comedy show at The Roxy Theater before, I definitely recommend it. The crowd for stand-up comedy shows at The Roxy Theater is uniquely attentive, which means you won't miss a punchline because the guy next to you is ordering a beer. HomeGrown Comedy showcases are scheduled the 3rd Wednesday of each month through March.
Another show by HomeGrown Comedy is the open mic at The Union Club on the first Thursday of every month. If you've ever thought about doing a stand-up comedy set, try it out. There's also Movie Mockers at The Roxy Theater, the show where comedians do live commentary on a movie. On Friday, December 9th you can see the Movie Mockers take on Jack Frost starring Michael Keaton. If you want to be aware of comedy shows in Missoula, follow Missoula's HomeGrown Comedy on Facebook.
