Could Montana’s Big Sky Be the Next Target for Mysterious Drones?
Montanans, keep your eyes on the skies because something strange is happening. Drones have been making national headlines after being spotted near military bases and airfields across the U.S. While officials scramble to explain these rogue flying objects, we have to ask ourselves: could Malmstrom Air Force Base in Great Falls be next?
And here’s where it gets interesting. This isn’t Malmstrom’s first dance with mysterious things in the sky. Back in the 1950s, Great Falls made UFO history when a minor league baseball manager captured footage of what looked like flying saucers hovering over the city. That footage, now called the “Mariana UFO Incident,” was one of the earliest and most famous UFO sightings in America.

Fast forward to today, and you’ve got drones—some say just drones—buzzing around places they’re not supposed to be. But how do we know for sure? If there’s one thing Montanans have learned over the years, it’s that sometimes what’s “just a drone” might be a little more… otherworldly.
Let’s get real for a second. Malmstrom Air Force Base is home to nuclear missiles, and anything flying near there is going to raise eyebrows (and probably some alarms). Are these sightings foreign surveillance? Tech enthusiasts with a death wish? Or could they be something truly unexplainable? Cue the “X-Files” theme.
So what should you do if you see something strange over Great Falls? First, don’t panic. Second, grab your phone and start recording. Third, maybe tag someone who cares, like the FAA...Or Mulder and Scully.
Keep watching the skies, Montana. You never know what you might see.
