Fair Week will Draw Thousands to the Western Montana Fairgrounds

This week, the Western Montana Fair will make a triumphant return after last year’s COVID pandemic.

Fairgrounds Director Emily Brock has details.

“We are super excited to bring everyone back together again after taking a year off from the fair, and one of the ways that we're excited to do that is through dance,” said Brock. “So our theme this year is the hoedown in Midtown and we're really trying to get folks to reconnect. Every night we have free live music thanks to our awesome bands. A lot of country some country rock, some Montana country, little bit of marching band and more.”

Brock said there will be rodeo action almost every night.

“What I personally am excited about is we have rodeo every night, and the rodeo is different every day,” she said. “We have a new announcer, Roger Mooney coming in, and we’re super excited about that. The classics are here, like the carnival, the 4-H livestock sale on Saturday morning. So everything you love about the fair is coming.”

One of the great draws for the fair is free admission, so that everyone can come and enjoy each day free.

“It's still free admission, thanks to our sponsors,” she said. “You can come every day more than once and bring your whole family. There’s awesome fair food as usual for every dollar you spend for our nonprofits. We're just so excited to be having it this year and we couldn't be more thrilled.”

Brock said masks are not required at the fair.

“That's a personal choice, of course,” she said. We don't have any regulations around, you know, the health department recommends mask for food inside and it’s a good idea, but we're not going to go any farther than that.”

The fair runs Wednesday through Sunday at the county fairgrounds.
