Woman Arrested For DUI After Drinking Vanilla Extract [Video]
Police arrested and charged a woman for felony driving under the influence in upstate New York near Rochester last week.
No big deal, right? Well, this wasn't your typical DUI.
Instead of booze, she drank two hand-sized bottles of pure vanilla extract and her blood-alcohol content (BAC) was a staggering 0.26 percent, WHAM-TV reported.
It turns out that pure vanilla extract is 41 percent alcohol, basically as strong as vodka or gin.
FUN FACT: Orange and peppermint extracts can be up to 89 percent alcohol, which is nearly as strong as the 190-proof Everclear that's banned in 16 U.S. states. However, you can buy the extracts off the shelf at the supermarket.
