While growing up I found myself engulfed in the punk rock scene, and my CD collection was riddled with punk album after punk album. Just about any punk band that came out between 1990 and 2001, I was listening to it. One of my favorite things that I noticed in each album was that punk bands like to cover songs. Whether they are covering one of their favorites from another punk band or covering something bizarre like "Country Roads" from John Denver.

Fast forward to today, and you are seeing a similar trend in the metal/metalcore scenes. Bands are putting a heavier twist to songs that are traditionally NOT heavy.

Take Leo Moracchioli of Frog Leap Studios for example. Leo's heavy metal cover songs are some of the most-watched videos on the internet. Leo takes some of the most popular POP songs and converts them into something that will have you throwing up the horns. Everything from his cover of "Let it Go" from the Frozen movie to one of his most-watched videos, his cover of Adele's "Hello."

Our longtime friend, longtime Blaze listener, and longtime member of the local music scene took it upon himself to cover one of his all-time favorite songs.

George (AKA G Nizzle), Drummer for Chaos to Clarity, and formerly of Universal Choke Sign is well known here at The Blaze for his outbursts on social media whenever his favorite song comes on the radio. Updating his status with comments like "Nuthin but a good time is on THE BLAZE Right Now!" or "Crank it up, Poison is on the radio." Well, it was only a matter of time before G Nizzle would create his own rendition of the song.

Listen now to the G Nizzle version of Poison's "Nothing but a good time."

G Nizzle has other talents you may be interested in too. Take his cooking skills for example. G Nizzle is not only a talented musician, he is also a culinary master. Click here to learn how to make G Nizzle's perfect prime rib.
