Lost Trail Opens Up the Ski Hill
The wait is over. Lost Trail Powder Mountain will have Opening Day Thursday, December 15.
Ski Lifts 1 and 2 will start operating at 9:30 a.m. Lost Trail is reporting 30 inches of snow at the top of the mountain and 24 inches at the lodge. The ski hill is very popular with skiers and snowboarders.
Lost Trail had delayed its opening two weeks, waiting for enough snow to collect on the numerous downhill runs at the south end of the Bitterroot Valley.
Weather forecasters are expecting another snowfall Wednesday night to put a little powder "frosting on the cake." Check the Lost Trail website for the latest conditions.
Lost Trail will have their regular opening Thursday through Sunday. Their holiday "open daily" schedule is starting next Thursday, December 22, and runs through New Year's weekend.
Cross Country Skiing
By the way, many of the cross-country trails at Chief Joseph Pass now have a good base for skiers according to the latest report Monday. The groomers have begun their weekly work. A reminder from the Bitterroot Cross Country Ski Club to please sign in when you use the trails. Check their website for more information about conditions.
