Missoula’s Fireworks Displays Still Scheduled to Happen
It's been an unprecedented couple of months where the new normal is for big events to be canceled rather than take place. Earlier this week, we saw that the annual fireworks display in Whitefish was cancelled. And, I don't think many people would consider it to be that big of a surprise if Missoula decided to do away with the couple of 4th of July events that are planned. Well, the good news is that shows at Southgate Mall and Ogren Park both sound like they will proceed as long as major obstacles don't present themselves.
There's no baseball for the Missoula PaddleHeads this year but they still plan to host their fireworks celebration next Friday (July 3.) They're working on a plan that will include a pre-show movie, either a baseball or patriotic film, and the fireworks show to follow. An article from The Missoulian shows attendance would be modeled after the Centerfield Cinema movie nights that are currently taking place at Ogren Park on Thursday nights through the summer. $25 tickets will include the movie and fireworks.
On the 4th, Southgate Mall still plans to hold Fourth Fest, although things will look a little different than previous years because of COVID-19 and the need to ensure social distancing and safety for attendees. Fireworks are scheduled to start at 10:30 PM but there isn't much in the way of other details. The mall hopes to announce more information by the end of the week. You can visit Southgate Mall online HERE for updated information when it becomes available.
Coronavirus cases have been on the rise the last couple of weeks. Hopefully, with everybody following social distancing guidelines and taking the proper precautions we'll still be able to enjoy the 4th of July celebrations that are planned for Missoula.
If you're skipping the big shows but want to have a little fun - fireworks stand are now allowed to be open in Missoula.
