Montana’s Own Post-Apocalyptic Comedy on Amazon Prime

Montana filmmakers don’t churn out a full-blown zombie movie with robots, celebrity cameos, and a chef who just won’t stop cooking through the end times every day. But that’s exactly what’s coming to Amazon Prime on Oct. 15th.

Cuisine de l’Apocalypse is made and paid for by people from our Montana community, shot in the Bitterroot Valley, and looks like the weirdest dinner party you were never invited to but always wanted to see.

A Chef, a Few Zombies, and a Patchy Wi-Fi Signal

The film, according to writer and director Kyle Weingart, is a love letter to retro comedy and VHS nights at Blockbuster. The plot? As the world ends, a chef in a small town named John refuses to let go of his cooking show. Broadcasting from “New Missoula,” his final update provokes mass panic. Instead of running for cover when his stream starts, a team of heroes races to stop the broadcast.

Montana Talent Meets Hollywood Names

The cast includes some Montana locals and familiar faces like Natasha Leggero, Emilio Rivera (Sons of Anarchy), and Kevin Sorbo (Hercules), who might not have known he’d end up fighting zombies in a Montana kitchen. The film marries the offbeat heart of small-town filmmaking with the kind of zany plot that only happens when people have been snowed in one winter too many.

A National Flavor in a Local Production

Created by 99 Productions LLC and supported in part by Bitterroot filmmakers, Cuisine de l’Apocalypse proves that big ideas don’t need big studios. Just a few determined friends, a splash of fake blood, and a half-working Wi-Fi signal.
