Sending Mail from Montana? USPS Just Raised the Prices
Hey, Montana! Just when you thought life couldn’t get more expensive, the United States Postal Service has swooped in to remind you that the cost of sending stuff just has to go up. Starting NOW, they’re hiking rates on four of their services because they need to afford luxury mail trucks.
Here’s the damage:
- USPS Ground Advantage: Going up by 3.9%. Because “advantage” clearly means “We have the advantage, not you.”
- Priority Mail Service: A 3.2% increase. That’s right, your “priority” is now to budget better.
- Priority Mail Express Service: Also up 3.2%. For when you need to pay extra to get your package there slightly faster.
- Parcel Select: Brace yourself! A jaw-dropping 9.2% increase. Apparently, selecting this service means they are going to get some fuzzy dice for the mail trucks too.
The USPS claims this is part of their big 10-year “Delivering for America” plan, which, so far, seems to be delivering more bills for Americans. Sure, they’re modernizing their operations, but couldn’t they modernize without hitting our wallets?
There’s a silver lining! They’re not raising the price of First-Class and Forever stamps this time around. That’s right, folks, sending a letter to grandma remains a financial safe zone... For now.
As someone who uses USPS for small business shipments, I can tell you that these increases will eat further into the bottom line for many small businesses.
So, as you prepare for 2025, keep this in mind: your packages may still arrive late, but at least you’ll be paying extra for the privilege. Cheers to another year of USPS adventures!
