‘Most Overpriced’ Grocery Store Has One Location Here in Montana
I am quickly turning into my mother. I have been progressively getting more and more diligent about saving money at the grocery store. Sometimes I find myself buying things that I don't need, strictly because they are on sale. If it is a bargain then there is a good chance it is going home with me.
I have been finding myself getting super upset after seeing prices go up at the grocery store. So much so that I dwell on it. Almost as if the price hike was a personal attack on me. Yet I know that we are ALL feeling the pain when it comes to groceries getting more and more expensive. That is why we are always looking for good deals. What I cannot understand is the folks who shop at the most expensive grocery stores on purpose.
The website Delish recently shared a list of the "Most Overpriced Grocery Stores in America." It appears that Montana has at least one of the grocery stores that made the list. A fairly recent addition to Bozeman, Montana. Of course, I'm referring to "WHOLE PAYCHECK" otherwise known as Whole Foods.
According to Delish
Since being founded in 1980, Whole Foods has earned a reputation for being one of the most overpriced grocery stores in the country. It’s faced scandal after scandal, from selling a bottle of water with three stalks of asparagus for $6, to their former CEO blaming America’s obesity crisis on “making poor choices” and “ignorance.”
In 2017, it was purchased by Amazon, which led to price decreases, but Whole Foods still remains financially inaccessible to many shoppers.
Whole Foods opened in Bozeman in 2023. Making it the first Whole Foods store in Montana.
According to the Whole Foods website
Whole Foods Market opened its new 31,718-square-foot store in Bozeman, Mont., located at 2905 W. Main Street on Feb. 1, 2023. The Bozeman location is the first store in Montana for the global natural and organic foods retailer.
“We’re thrilled to join the great state of Montana for the first time ever with the opening of our Bozeman store today,” said Angela Lorenzen, Whole Foods Market’s Regional President for the Mountain Pacific Region. “With every new store opening comes the opportunity to bring high-quality food and an unparalleled grocery shopping experience to new customers.
With prices like $7 for a gallon of milk to $25 for a ribeye steak, there is a good chance you won't find me visiting the most overpriced grocery store in Montana. I will be home frantically cutting coupons and dwelling on the price of eggs going up again.
