Remember MTV's Rock the Vote Campaign? Remember the rad concert performances with subtle "get out and vote" messages in between songs? It was actually pretty effective on increasing voter turnout among the younger demos.

Rock the Vote was founded in 1990 by Jeff Ayeroff with Virgin America co Chair Jordan Harris and Virgin Executive Beverly Lund.  Rock the Vote supported the National Voter Registration Act of 1993, commonly referred to as the "motor voter" bill, which expanded access to voter registration. It was signed into law by President Bill Clinton.

In 1996, Rock the Vote created the first telephone voter registration system, 1-800-REGISTER, followed by the first online voter-registration system, NetVote, later that year

Well, now there is a new campaign to get people to the polls. Featuring professionals who are experts on polls. We are not talking about political analyst or campaign spokesman. We are talking about exotic dancers... That's right, a REAL voter registration ad out of Georgia features strippers encouraging you to "Get your booty to the polls."

According to NPR

The video, directed by Angela Barnes, has gone viral online. She said she wanted to target a more specific, smaller demographic within the subset of potential Black male voters, and so she chose to center the video in Atlanta's booming strip club scene.

If you are not already registered to vote, or feel like your vote doesn't count. Simply watch the following 90 second commercial and you may find yourself a little more motivated to get out and participate in Democracy.
