Sunday brought its own series of thunderstorms driven by strong winds into western Montana. Meteorologist Brian Conlan with the National Weather Service has details.

“We had a wind gust measures at a personal weather station of 60 mils per hour, and that was just west of Missoula,” said Conlan. “A tree fell and blocked the street four miles west of Missoula, and two miles east of Missoula there was 61 miles per gust measured at Mt. Sentinel.”

Conlan said the gusting winds brought down trees and cut power to parts of western Montana.

“A branch fell on two cars near the cross streets of 9th and Grant Streets in Missoula,” he said. “A tree fell on a power line at the cross streets of Wapiti Road and Six Mile Road near Huson. There was also a downed tree across Gharrett Street about a half-mile south of Reserve Street.,

Conlan said a storm system out of Oregon brought the winds through on Sunday.
