Meant to warn you about this a couple of weeks ago, and now we're down to the last minute. My bad.

The deadline to submit your band to the Zoo Music Awards, known as the Zoomas, is this Friday, December 13th. It's a showcase of the best music Montana has to offer, with 13 categories, including 'Metal & Punk' and the very general 'Rock', $6,300 in cash prizes, a two night competition and an awards ceremony at The Wilma.

The Missoula Independent and our fellow broadcasters at Montana Radio Group present the 2nd Annual Zoo Music Awards on March 8th, with showcases on February 7th and 8th. We'd LOVE to see your band represent Montana punk, metal and rock this year, so enter now. Let's make this a fair playing field, let's show Missoula what Montana has to offer when it comes to local rock.

I had the honor of being one of 3 judges for the 'Metal & Punk' category last year at the Dark Horse and all of the bands were truly excellent. In fact, nominees High Voltage rocked 2013 by playing a ton of festivals all over Montana including the world famous Testicle Festival and earning opening slots for Halestorm,Royal Bliss and .38 Special.

M.I.P. (Minors In Possession) won last year and I don't know if they're still a band, they may have changed their name.  I think Walking Corpse Syndrome have a good chance this year, plus they looked hawt as Hell at last year's awards ceremony.

Represent! Enter to win and bring some local, kick ass metal to this year's Zoo Music Awards. It's a pretty big deal, everybody gets fancied up and there are performers, a red carpet event, gift bags and all the things you would expect from an awards show. The organizers really blew the top off of this thing last year and there's nothing I would love more than to see metal take an award home this year.
