The Prodigy Salute Keith Flint on His 50th Birthday
The Prodigy honored their late frontman Keith Flint on what would have been his 50th birthday. The dance titans took to Twitter today (Sept.17) to celebrate Flint on the first birthday since he passed away in March.
The message reads: “Happy birthday Flinty, not a single day passes u aren’t in our thoughts, we miss you brother, Raise the roof wherever you are muthafukka!” It is signed “L&M,” referencing the group’s members Liam Howlett and Maxim, along with the hashtags #weliveforever #weliveforbeats #raisetheroof and #neverstop. The post also includes four photographs of Flint and the band throughout their career.
Since his untimely death in March, there have been many tributes to Flint, including live covers of “Firestarter,” from Sepultura and Papa Roach. Back in March, thousands of people turned up to line the streets of Essex during Flint’s funeral procession.
In May, which is Mental Health Awareness Month, the electro rock group posted a note to its social media channels. It reads in part: "It has been a tough time for everyone over the last few weeks since Keef's passing. If you are struggling with depression, addiction or the impact of suicide, please do not suffer in silence," the band said, reaffirming their support of mental health improvements campaigns.
Back in August, the group shared that they returned to the studio for the first time since Flint’s death to work on new music. They posted, “Back in the studio making noise, brand new Prodigy tunes are gonna roll.” There has been no word on whether the new music will feature any vocals Flint recorded before his death.
