This May Be an Important Food Rule Exclusive to Montana
I have been watching a lot of travel shows lately. I especially love the travel shows that feature food from different locations around the world. I especially love the shows that feature a host being forced to eat foods we might find disgusting in America.
Every culture has different traditions when it comes to cooking and presenting food. In Polynesian culture, they bury pigs under hot coals in the ground. In Scotland, they boil sheep guts in the intestines and call it dinner. Mmmmm! HAGGIS!
It seems that every US State has its own culinary traditions. The website RANKER started researching "Important Food Rules To Know For Every State In The US."
Every state in the US has its own culinary tradition, and with those traditions, of course, come a set of rules. How strict the rules are depends on the state and the level of fanaticism of the foodies who call that state home. Some places may give a knowing glance and a smile while explaining the traditional way things are done, while some food faux pas will get you run right out of town.
I have learned from experience that you never put beans in your chili if you are visiting Texas. And bratwurst are only supposed to be boiled in beer when in Wisconsin. Also, my family in Nebraska insists that corn should only be bought from a produce stand and not the grocery store.
After scouring Reddit and polling people from around the country, RANKER came up with the most unique FOOD RULE for Montana.
"GET YOUR FLATHEAD CHERRIES STRAIGHT FROM THE SOURCE."
According to the feedback Ranker collected, we Montanans believe that the BEST Flathead Cherries are purchased at the roadside stands sprinkled all over the Flathead Valley. If you can't buy them at the stand, find a way to pick them yourself.
