Watch Crazy Bison Turn a Yellowstone Campground into a Mosh Pit

One of the biggest camping weekends of the year is nearly upon us. Memorial Day weekend is traditionally known as the unofficial kick-off to summer. People all over Montana are going to be stocking up on s'mores and ice. It is the first big camping trip of the year for most of us. Cozy up to the campfire, get an ice-cold beverage and crank up the SLAYER! No longer are dumb tourists getting to close to wild animals and getting hurt. Campground mosh pits are the new hot trend in Yellowstone National Park.

Are these bison fighting over who gets the last s'more?

A decade-old video has recently begun trending online, showing a group of 1-ton bison fighting in a Yellowstone campground. Watch as the bison crash through fire pits and picnic tables, like a group of metalheads during a heavy guitar solo.

The National Park Service website has some other great facts about Bison. For example:

1. Bison are the largest mammal in North America. Male bison (called bulls) weigh up to 2,000 pounds and stand 6 feet tall, while females (called cows) weigh up to 1,000 pounds and reach a height of 4-5 feet. 

2. Since the late 19th century, [the Department of the] Interior has been the primary national conservation steward of the bison. 

3. Yellowstone National Park is the only place in the U.S. where bison have continuously lived since prehistoric times. 

A lot of people ask if we call them bison or buffalo. The proper name is bison. The word buffalo is actually derived from the french word "boeuf," which means beef.
