Alice Cooper Revives ‘Elected’ With Campaign for President + Prime Minister
As election season heats up, we could have one more candidate to consider -- Alice Cooper. A new campaign has launched supporting Cooper not only for President of the United States, but also the Prime Minister. This all ties in with the revival of Cooper's 1972 single, "Elected," which is as vital now as it ever was.
A website has launched for Cooper's campaign in which he details his platform -- a 10-point plan that includes getting Brian Johnson back in AC/DC, adding Lemmy to Mt. Rushmore and a ban on taking selfies except on the designated National Selfie Day. See the Alice Cooper Manifesto below:
1. Getting Brian Johnson back in AC/DC
2. A snake in every pot
3. No more pencils, no more books
4. Adding Lemmy to Mt Rushmore
5. Rename Big Ben "Big Lemmy"
6. Groucho Marx on the $50 bill
7. Peter Sellers on the £20 note
8. Cupholders required for every airplane seat
9. Ban on talking during movies in movie theatres
10. Ban on taking selfies, except on a designated National Selfie Day
A press release states, "Alice Cooper is tired of the rhetoric, the mudslinging, the media frenzy. Keeping his snake in his cage and the guillotine in storage, he is putting people before career. Alice Cooper wants to be elected.”
The site also gives fans a chance to download the song "Elected," and offers a couple of Elect Alice merchandise packs that come with posters, buttons, stickers, a t-shirt and a "Billion Dollar Bill." Be sure to check it out here.
Cooper appears to be having fun with the revival of "Elected," a song that first appeared on his Billion Dollar Babies album. Footage of the musician performing the track in Biloxi, Miss. in late April can be seen above. In the clip, the red, white and blue suited Cooper ramps up the theatrics with a fake Donald Trump and a fake Hillary Clinton both duking it out and making out onstage. Watch it all play out in the video above.
