Can you taste it? It’s in the air. Yes, parents it’s the taste of school in the air. School is just weeks away. The kids are still on a summer high, but you know that school is just around the corner, and soon everything will be back to normal.

As a parent, it always seems that the school year goes by too quickly and then summer is upon us. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy the summer and all the extra time with my kids, without having to worry about homework and sports practices every night, but summer always seems so chaotic and unorganized. There is never a set schedule, the kids go from one camp to the next every week, throw in a vacation and weekends spent camping or at a lake and by the time school rolls around I’m craving the return to a set schedule and the normalcy it brings.

There’s nothing quite like the anticipation of a new school year. I remember what it was like for me as a child, and love to see it in my kids. Getting to find out who your new teacher is and what friends will be in your class this year or the new classroom and bus ride on your first day of school. If you ask your child, most will tell you that they don’t like school and are not looking forward to it, but I think they secretly enjoy it.

Parents, your assignment is to enjoy that last few weeks you have with your kids before school begins.
