Christmas Lights Celebrated by Hamilton Council

The 3rd annual Hamilton Community Christmas Decorating contest brought attention to some great yard displays in Hamilton this season. The City Council considered the entries at this past week's council meeting and selected four displays at the top of their "favorites" list. The winners will get certificates and bragging rights.

It was easy to select the Best Commercial Christmas Lights display. Each year, Beehive Homes on New York Avenue brings out a whole range of lights and displays along their driveways and parking lot. (photo below) And, they did it again this year. (By the way, their Halloween displays are always fun, too.)

There were three entries that tied for Best Home Display this year. The Matthew Welch entry on Adirondac Avenue on the north end of town was a winner (photo above). However, a private challenge between Hamilton Mayor Dominic Farrenkopf and Bitterroot Drug owner Pete Siefert (photos below) brought them to the top of the list for a three-way tie with Welch. The Siefert family effort is at the south end of 5th Street and the display from Dominic and Hanna Farrenkopf is on Pine Street. There were many entries this year and the council encouraged everyone to get out and see the lights. You can drive, bike or walk around and, by the way, there are new lawns being decorated daily.

The contest returns next year, so start making your plans and watch for the entry forms next November on the city's website. The contest is open to anyone in the city limits and you can nominate yourself or a neighbor.
