Man Arrested for Strangling Girlfriend – Fighting With Police
41 year-old Nashun Folsom appeared in Missoula Justice Court on Friday, charged with felony strangulation after attacking his girlfriend and misdemeanor resisting arrest for fighting with police.
According to court documents, Folsom allegedly strangled his girlfriend after finding a year-old text on her cell phone from a man from California. The affidavit affirms that Folsom became upset after reading the text and despite her protests that she was not cheating on him, he grabbed her around the neck with one hand and squeezed until just before she passed out, something she said he had done several times in the past.
Following the strangulation, the court records state that Folsom then beat the victim with her cell phone about her face, neck and arms, leaving numerous marks and bruises, which were photographed by police.
The victim told police she was afraid of Folsom and never knew when the next time might be when he would strangle her again, and that he might not let go and eventually kill her.
When Missoula police officers attempted to arrest him, the records say that Folsom became combative and attempted to push the officers down the outside stairs, and then continued to struggle until three officers were able to subdue him and place him in custody.
Court records indicate that Folsom was charged with felony assault with a weapon in August of 2016, after allegedly cutting a man's face with a knife.
He is being held without bond in the Missoula County Jail.
