Mastodon Team with PBR For ‘Sponsored Tour Guides’ Skit
Underneath the crushing riffs and crazy-intricate story-writing, Mastodon are pretty goofy dudes. Today they released a new video with Pabst Blue Ribbon Music, a skit that details what happened when the band decided to become "brand ambassadors" for the company.
What's entailed was a strange hilarious journey through branded content with the band. Their PBR tour manager "Andy Riggs" guided them on how to act as a band as best as they should. This includes drinking a s--t ton of beer at every meal, making sure to have the can label face the crowd at the perfect angle and a lot of intense promotion. The band has to dodge their family members and techs getting bribed, eating cereal with beer and being pestered in the middle of the night to keep drinking.
It's not the first time PBR has teamed up with a band for some pretty out of the box brand placement. Last year, they teamed up with sludge metal band Red Fang to create the "Can Crusher," a pinball machine that was soundtracked by the band.
Mastodon have been enjoying a pretty good year thus far. Last March the band released their seventh studio album, Emperor of Sand. The record was packed full of huge tracks, including "Show Yourself," "Andromeda" and more. The rest of the year will be spent on the road touring the record. Two weeks ago the band announced tour dates in North America and the U.K., giving fans plenty of chances to catch them on the road.
