Metallica Play ‘Metal Have I Ever’ in ‘Carpool Karaoke’ Episode, Billy Eichner Teases Premiere on ‘Late Late Show’
It may seem like an odd pairing, but by all accounts comedian Billy Eichner and Metallica hit it off during the taping of their Carpool Karaoke episode for Apple Music. Eichner appeared as a guest on the Late Late Show With James Corden to tease the premiere, which debuts tonight (Aug. 15) at 9PM ET / 6PM PT on Apple Music, while a new preview clip has also turned up via a Billboard premiere.
When asked about the pairing by Corden, Eichner revealed. "This was the best day ever. I was very nervous about it because it's Metallica and we don't have a lot of overlap." But Eichner says that even though he was initially awestruck by the rock stars he knew from growing up seeing them on TV, he soon realized they were a bunch of dads and very sweet.
While trying to break the ice with the band, he suggested a game of "Metal Have I Ever," which was essentially "Never Have I Ever" but using a metal hand gesture to respond. During this game, Eichner quizzes the band members on their knowledge of Paula Cole, gets a surprising answer to if any of the members have ever sent a "dick pic" and gets a little irritated as the band members hilariously interrupt while he's singing a song from The Little Mermaid, until James Hetfield can't hold back and joins in. You can watch that preview clip over at Billboard. Meanwhile, another teaser has turned up in the Instagram post below.
As stated, the Metallica episode of Carpool Karaoke spinoff series with Billy Eichner debuts tonight (Aug. 15) via Apple Music. The initial episode featured Carpool Karaoke creator James Corden cruising the streets with Will Smith.
