At about 5:15 Tuesday afternoon, Missoula Police were called to a casino in the 1200 block of West Broadway. Police Public Information Officer Travis Welsh says an employee reported that an assault had just taken place.

“An employee there described a male who he had seen in the business before,” Welsh said. “The employee said the male came in and attempted to purchase a bottle of alcohol. The clerk informed the male that he was not welcome there and that he had to leave, apparently refusing to sell him the alcohol. The suspect male attempted to strike the employee with a fist and then after that tossed the plastic bottle of alcohol he was holding at the clerk.”

According to Welsh, the bottle hit the clerk in the chin.

“The clerk claimed that he was not injured and the bottle of alcohol was not damaged,” Welsh said. “The male, who is described as being white with a goatee, has blondish grey hair, in his mid-30’s, who was wearing multiple jackets, left the store on foot. However, he was see getting into a vehicle as a passenger.”

The assault is currently under investigation. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call Officer Jim Pontrelli at 552-6300.
