Wow! It's a pretty cool thing to watch people's dreams come true while actually being able to see it happen in real-time. The only thing missing from this real-life movie script was an emotional song playing from the soundtrack as a slow-motion fist pump turns into a freeze-frame ending!  Last night was a night that a band from Butte will never forget. After winning an online competition, they'll be playing their music to a whole new audience around the country.

Since mid-March, A River Runs Thru It had been competing in an online battle of the bands contest that saw them make it to the finals along with three other hopefuls. The winner would get to play as part of a 4-day festival at Daytona International Speedway called Welcome to Rockville. The lineup for the event is packed full of amazing acts like KISS, Guns N' Roses, Megadeth, Shinedown, Rise Against, Bush, Black Label Society, and more. The Foo Fighters were scheduled to be part of it until they canceled their entire tour (including a Montana show) after the unfortunate loss of drummer Taylor Hawkins.

A big win for the boys from Butte!

The final four bands in the contest performed live via Twitch last night and A River Runs Thru It ended up winning the whole dang thing! The group that plays small shows in Butte will perform as part of the giant festival in Florida as well as win the opportunity to play seven Midwest tour dates with Escape The Fate.

Huge congrats go out to A River Runs Thru It for their big win and the amazing experiences to come! Their Facebook page is full of well-wishers and I'm guessing they'll make plenty of new fans as they get their music in front of a larger listening audience. What a cool story for the band, their fans, and Butte as a whole.

Montana's Museum Of The Rockies Is For Everyone! Check It Out

Museum of the Rockies is nestled right next to Bobcat Stadium in Bozeman. The Museum is part of the American Alliance of Museums, which means that the Museum of the Rockies is one of the 1,095 museums to hold this distinction. With over 33,000 museums nationwide, this is quite an accomplishment.

The Museum of the Rockies is also part of the Montana Dinosaur Trail. What is that? It is a trail that runs through the state of Montana and has 14 locations. Each location will get you just a little closer to the history and knowledge of Dinosaurs.

Museum of the Rockies has current and rotating exhibits. Currently, (December 2021) here are some of my favorites that are on display: Siebel Dinosaur Complex, Welcome to Yellowstone Country, which digs into the history of Montana, Enduring Peoples Exhibit, highlighting the American Indians of Montana, and the Paugh Exhibit, illuminating the stories that connect us with the Northern Colorado Rockies. You can see all the exhibits here to make planning your trip easier.

Museum of the Rockies is an independent 501 Non-Profit here in Bozeman. With that being said, they hold some of the most exquisite benefits throughout the year. This gives the museum the opportunity to continue to be a highlight for the city of Bozeman. Another way to continue the success of the Museum of the Rockies is to become a member.

If you are considering donating to the Museum of the Rockies, you can check it out here and decide which program works best for you. Help Bozeman keep this amazing learning tool open and available to everyone. Enjoy your time at the Museum of the Rockies.
