Two Montana Cities are High on List of ‘Best Run Cities in America’
When was the last time you drove over a giant pothole and thought "Gee! Our city government sure is doing a stand-up job?" Montana is not known for having a sprawling urban landscape. The closest thing we have to a "concrete jungle" is the parking garage downtown. But, regardless of size, we share a lot of the same problems as some BIG cities do.
Wallet Hub recently crunched the numbers to discover which US cities were run the best. Meaning that certain US cities had better leadership and responsible allocation of public money than others.
I about fell out of my chair when I discovered that not one, but two Montana cities made the list. Not only did these Montana cities make the list. Both cities landed near the top for "BEST RUN CITIES IN AMERICA."
According to Wallet Hub
WalletHub compared the operating efficiency of 149 of the largest U.S. cities to reveal which among them are managed best. We constructed a “Quality of Services” score made up of 36 metrics grouped into six service categories, which we then measured against the city’s per-capita budget. In order to determine the best- and worst-run cities in America, WalletHub compared 149 of the most populated cities across six key categories: 1) Financial Stability, 2) Education, 3) Health, 4) Safety, 5) Economy and 6) Infrastructure & Pollution.
After all the data collected and points added up, both Missoula and Billings landed a spot on the list.
Out of 149 cities in America:
Billings ranked 24th for "Best Run Cities in America." Scoring high points for education, health, and safety.
Missoula cracked the TOP 10 in the country for "Best Run Cities in America." Scoring high financial stability and education.
Nampa, Idaho claimed the top spot for best-run cities. But, what about the worst-run cities? Can you guess?
According to Wallet Hub, San Francisco is at the bottom of the list. Followed by Chatanooga, TN and New York City.
