Select Montana Ski Season Pass Holders Can Ski Free at Showdown

El Nino continues to take its toll on the 2023-24 Montana ski season. We have been patiently waiting for the "snow drought" to end so that we can ride the trails of our favorite ski areas. Many of our favorite spots are still struggling to get enough snow to fully open for business.

Lost Trail has seen some snow this season. Making it one of the few open ski areas in the state. Currently, Lost Trail has a 30-inch base on top and 25 inches at the lodge. With only a small portion of the mountain ski runs available to ride. Montana Snowbowl has yet to fully open. The lodge and rope tow are open, but the lifts have yet to start turning. Making it extremely frustrating for fans of Snowbowl who purchased season passes.

One Montana ski hill is stepping up to ease the pain of those who cannot use their season passes on their local mountain. Showdown Ski Area near White Sulpher Springs is offering free passes to season pass holders of struggling ski hills in the state.

Showdown is offering the passholders of local ski areas that aren’t open right now free skiing and riding. This includes Blacktail, Maverick Mountain, the Montana Snowbowl, Turner Mountain, and Teton Pass. This offer will be in effect for passholders until the mountain they have a pass to opens for the season.

 

As someone who has a cabin near Showdown, I can tell you that this mountain is worth the drive. I have spent many days riding at Showdown and the snow is typically the best in the state. The location of the mountain in the Little Belts tends to get massive dumps of snow. Showdown has seen nearly 50 inches of snow so far this season and is operating all 4 of its lifts with roughly 80% of the runs open.
