Myles Kennedy auditioned with Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones after Robert Plant declined to take up a larger tour in the wake of Led Zeppelin’s one-off 2007 reunion. Now, the Slash and Alter Bridge singer says he hopes no one ever hears it.

Speculation was running rampant that Zeppelin's comeback at London’s O2 would lead to more shows with the late drummer John Bonham’s son Jason behind the kit. When Plant refused to take part, that left Page, Jones and Jason Bonham to consider a new project. They invited singers to illustrate their talents in 2008, and those reportedly considered included Kennedy and Aerosmith's Steven Tyler.

Kennedy confirms that no video was taken, but say he’s “heard different accounts” about the possibility of audio recordings. “I actually hope [it] didn’t [get recorded]," he told Eddie Trunk, "because I was actually pretty sick. I had come off a tour in Australia, and I remember I got these and I had bronchitis or something, and I remember it took a few days for my voice to come back. So, I hope there is nothing that exists!”

He's previously described just how surreal the entire experience was: “Believe me… those rehearsals I will remember to my dying day," Kennedy said in 2014. "When we’re talking about this it seems completely ridiculous — there's no way — but it did happen. I don’t know if they knew what it was going to be. They just wanted to play; they wanted to jam. They wanted to put a project of some sort together. They weren’t sure what it was, but it was never going to be Led Zeppelin with a new singer. I mean, obviously.”

Page and Jones ultimately decided to abandon the project in January 2009. “The timing wasn’t the best," Page said in 2012. "We had put so much toward the O2. And the three of us were catching up with stuff. It was very good, seriously promising. But there was this other thing going on. [Pauses.] And that's it.”
