Ex-Queens of the Stone Age Bassist Nick Oliveri Involved in Serious Auto Accident
Nick Oliveri, former Queens of the Stone Age / Kyuss musician and current frontman of Mondo Generator, was involved in a serious auto accident late Monday night (June 24). Mondo Generator released the news via their Facebook page late last night (June 26), offering their "well-wishes and hang in there's."
Oliveri has been facing some tough times lately, being involved in a standoff with police after a 2011 altercation with his girlfriend. The standoff ended peacefully, but police found cocaine, methamphetamine and a fully-loaded rifle at the musician's duplex. Oliveri pleaded "not guilty" to two counts of possession of a controlled substance with a firearm, two counts of possession of a controlled substance, and one misdemeanor count of resisting, obstructing or delaying a peace officer.
In August, a plea deal was reached where Oliveri pleaded "guilty" to one count of possession of cocaine while all other charges were dismissed, leaving Oliveri with three years felony probation, one year of anger management and 200 hours of community service.
We're hoping that substance abuse had nothing to do with Oliveri's car crash, but the issue wasn't addressed in Mondo Generator's post about the crash:
We're sending many many well-wishes and hang in there's to Nick! He was involved in an auto accident late Monday night. He was shaken up, and you can probably see why if you look at the car, but it's nothing he won't recover from. Get well soon brother!
