NSFW: Montana Hero Does Standup with Help from Famous Comedians
I have always wondered if I could ever do standup. It has always been a thought that lingers in my mind. Do I have the nerve to get up in front of people and tell jokes? Don't get me wrong, I have no problem telling jokes on a daily basis. But, telling jokes to friends at the bar versus telling jokes on stage to the ENTIRE bar, are two different things.
Stand-up comedy is a skill that needs proper coaching.
I never watched much of the Comedy Central show, "Lights Out with David Spade." It aired for a year prior to the pandemic. It was the show that aired following The Daily Show. For some reason, I didn't watch it even though I am a fan of comedian David Spade. That is probably why I almost fell out of my chair when specific footage from the show started showing up in my social media feed. One clip, in particular, had me laughing so hard that I almost cried. Im talking about the episode that features Montana hero and Navy SEAL, Rob O'Neill. Yeah, the Butte-born badass that killed Osama Bin Laden.
Rob O'Neill participated in a segment of the show called "Secret Stand-up." Where a person attempts stand-up while being fed jokes through an earpiece. They simply have to repeat what the professional comedians tell them, and hope that the crowd laughs. In Rob's case, the language of the joke gets very graphic and dark. Yet, the crowd enjoys a huge laugh.

Like David Spade said before the clip aired. This bit wouldn't work with just anybody. But, Rob O'Neill has "balls of steel." So keep an eye out for Rob next time your local waterhole has an open mic night. I feel like he might have what it takes to try standup again.
