Russell School Wrapping Presents for Max
If you're horrible at wrapping presents like I am, this is exactly the type of event that will help you through some holiday stresses. Wednesday, December 20th from 4pm-7pm the Russell Parent group will be wrapping presents (for a donation) as a fundraiser for a Russell Student, Max. The funds will go to Max and his family and caregivers to attend a conference in Dallas, Texas in July 2018.
Max is a Russell student and Mary, his mom works at Russell School. Her youngest son is a special boy. Max is a 2nd grader at Russell Elementary. What makes Max so special? Max has Phelan-McDermid Syndrome, also known as 22Q13. He is the only one in Montana with this rare syndrome and 1 in 1,400 worldwide. How does this effect Max? For Max this means he has some developmental and physical delays. Max is nonverbal but loves to give high fives. It is our family’s dream to make it to the Phelan-McDermid Family International Conference. This is held every 2 years and the next one is July 2018 . It will give our family an opportunity to become a part of research, meet other’s like our family, and to make connections that will last a lifetime for Max, his siblings, and his mom. Mary’s goal is to continue to advocate for her son and raise awareness for special needs.
