Missoula just witnessed the kind of collision that has hunters, truck lovers, and Tesla skeptics all talking: a Tesla Cybertruck met a deer on the road. One of the few Cybertrucks that dared to tread into Montana’s rugged terrain found itself in an all-too-Montana scenario. Spoiler alert: the deer lost, but it might have preserved its dignity.

Now, let’s set the stage. Imagine the Cybertruck (looking like something a middle schooler sketched during geometry class) rolling through Missoula. Its angular, stainless steel exterior is meant to scream "futuristic power." But in Montana, where real trucks earn their stripes hauling hay, trailers, and elk carcasses, the Cybertruck looks like the weird kid who showed up to gym class wearing a tuxedo.

Tesla has slowly begun delivering the new Cybertruck to customers across the country. Since the Cybertruck has rolled out, sightings of the truck have popped up all over the internet along with the typical amount of criticism.

Reviews have been mixed on Tesla's Cybertruck.

This video surfaced before the holidays last year showing a new Cybertruck sliding off what appears to be a forest service road while out harvesting a Christmas tree. Only to be towed back to safety by a giant Ford pickup.

Another video has surfaced online showing a Cybertruck getting stuck trying to navigate a driveway right here in Montana. It's not even close to being offroad. Talk about embarrassing.

To its credit, the Cybertruck survived the deer encounter with barely a dent (thank you, stainless steel). But the real damage was done to its reputation. Pickup enthusiasts in Montana now have fresh ammo to argue that the Cybertruck might handle a deer, but it wouldn’t last a week on a logging road or with a bed full of firewood.

Our longtime friend Josh shared with us the minimal damage to the vehicle that occurred after "Cybertruck @ 40 mph vs deer." Didn’t even feel it in the cabin. Truck built like a tank."

So, while the deer may have lost the battle, it won the war for Montana’s hearts. And the Cybertruck? Let’s just say it’ll need more than futuristic vibes to impress a state that still believes the phrase "If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it" was written about F-150s.
