About a year ago, I received an interesting message from a man claiming to work for a casting agency. He asked me if I would be interested in being part of an upcoming reality show. I didn't know what to say. Why me? How did he find me? What kind of show are we talking about? He couldn't share much for details other than it is going to be a really "fun project."

So the question remains, why is a casting agency calling me? Well, it is a long story. But, in short, they found an article I had written 6 years ago about the time I participated in the rocket mountain oyster eating competition in Rock Creek. He said he was looking for someone who was an unofficial "expert" on the subject. I couldn't help but laugh. It seems my reputation proceeds me. Regardless, we both laughed about the situation and he informed me that they would like to fly me and my buddy Shawn to a small town in Illinois to compete in another rocky mountain oyster-eating competition... How bad could it be?

So what is the reality show about? Well, it is your typical "fish out of water" show. Take two members from the cast of the Real Housewives of New York, and plop them smack dab in the middle of nowhere. Much like the show "The Simple Life" with Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie.

According to Bravo TV

The Benton City Council surprises the town residents by inviting “Real Housewives” icons Luann de Lesseps and Sonja Morgan to help spruce up their small town that was devastated by the pandemic, which has a population just shy of 7,000. It’s a fish-out-of-water experience for everyone involved, especially when the two Manhattanites check in to the local motel. The mayor wastes no time putting them to work and Luann and Sonja quickly realize they have their work cut out for them.

The new series "Welcome to Crappie Lake" premieres on July 9th on Bravo and streaming on Peacock.
