Missoula County Attorney Says Crime This Week Was Fueled By Drug Addiction
The Missoula County Attorney’s Office had their hands full again this week with 18 new cases. County Attorney Kirsten Pabst says there is never a dull moment at her office.
“We filed four violent crimes, four endangerment crimes, five property crimes and five felony drug crimes,” Pabst said. “I need to preface that many of these other crimes were fueled by drug and alcohol addiction. There were five that were actually charged as drug crimes, but many more involve drugs and addiction to drugs.”
In terms of violent crimes, Pabst says two involved strangulation.
“In one of them, the victim passed out from the strangulation and then awoke to the defendant holding a knife and they threatened her with that,” Pabst said. “There was another one involving a 27-year-old that strangled a 16-year-old victim. There was a robbery. The allegation there is that the defendant beat the victim and took her keys away and then ripped another victims necklace right off of the neck.”
According to Pabst, her office also charged one new sexual intercourse without consent case that involved violation of a 15-year-old victim.
