The Missoula County Attorney’s Office filed 12 new criminal complaints this week. According to County Attorney Kirsten Pabst, three of those cases involved intimate partner violence and two involved non intimate partner violence. In one of those cases, a 28-year-old defendant allegedly strangled his father who has COPD.

“In the endangerment category, we filed two new cases,” Pabst said. “Both of those cases involved endangering the welfare of a child. The allegation is that the defendants used methamphetamine in the presence of children. One of the allegations is that officers found meth paraphernalia in a top dresser drawer located next to a child’s crib and in reach of another child.”

In addition, Pabst said her office filed four new drug cases. Three of those cases involved possession of methamphetamine and the fourth was the possession of counterfeit Xanax.

Pabst also wanted to acknowledge the local efforts towards the missing and murdered indigenous women and girl’s movement.

“They recently engaged in a public awareness effort by posting billboards around Montana featuring powerful images by a Missoula photographer,” Pabst said. “If you are interested in helping out with this important effort, you can go to MMIWUSA.org or contact Tveraa Photography. I will put the links on our Facebook page if anyone is interested in contacting those organizations.”

Pabst said her office is strongly supporting their campaign to bring awareness to this crisis. You can listen to Pabst's entire report below.
